Northfield Park put on a special program of live harness racing on Sunday, December 20, and the card turned out to be extra special for 31-year-old reinsman Aaron Merriman
.
The resident of Northfield, Ohio got the call on Premieronbroadway, a nine-year-old Personal Power horse, in Race 10 for trainer Lee Deyermand.
After leaving from Post 3, Merriman and his charge were first at every call and went on to win by more than six lengths in 1:56.3. The victory was a special one for Merriman because it was the 4,000th triumph of his career.
Merriman has driven in over 24,000 career races and has steered his charges to over $16.3 million in purse earnings. His career driving average is just under .300 at .296.
