The 1-9 favourite, Rose Run Yanae, looked very much the part as she toyed with the field and jogged to victory in Wednesday’s (Dec. 20) feature at Hollywood Casino at The Meadows, a $12,500 conditioned trot.
In September, the three-year-old Rose Run Yanae finished second in the Ohio Sire Stakes championship and won the Ohio Breeders Championship and thus, on paper, at least, looked much the best in Wednesday’s overnight event. The daughter of Triumphant Caviar-Stonebridge Dancer lived up to expectations. After Aaron Merriman gave her a comfortable :59.1 opening half, she sprinted clear and scored in 1:56.3 over a “good” surface, three lengths better than the pocket-sitting Hit Like Crazy. Kenobi shot the Lightning Lane for show.
Bill Daugherty Jr. trains Rose Run Yanae, who now sports a lifetime bankroll of $413,213, for Susan Daugherty.
Merriman and Dave Palone each collected three wins on the 13-race card while “Downtown” Brady Brown teamed with his sister, trainer Ashley Brown, for a pair of victories.
Live harness racing at The Meadows continues on Thursday, Dec. 21 when the 13-race program features a $1,281.90 carryover in the Early Pentafecta (race four). First post is 12:45 p.m.
