Boom Goes Vavoom

In Tuesday's $15,000 Preferred Trot at Georgian Downs, Southwind Vavoom and driver Bob McClure lowered the boom on the rest of the field with a dominant first-over and going away performance.

Sitting fifth after Logans Hero (Scott Coulter) emerged victorious from the early :27.4 tussle for the lead, McClure eased his trotter to the outside at the three-eighths mark as Logans Hero marched past the half in :57.1. Confidently, McClure stalked his adversary down the backstretch through an increasing pace as the third fraction was posted in 1:25.4 with the two trotters matching strides into the final turn. At the head of the lane, Southwind Vavoom started to edge away from Logans Hero under minimal urging to trip the timer four lengths the best in 1:54.1 with Lexis D J (Billy Davis, Jr.) completing the exactor ahead of pacesetter Logans Hero.

The win for Southwind Vavoom (Self Possessed - Vie Agra Works) was his 19th lifetime for trainer Lormer McClure and owner John McClure of Georgetown, Ont.
