Multiple winning tickets were purchased for Woodbine Racetrack's Jackpot Hi 5 wager on Friday night (December 1), and as a result, the carryover climbed to nearly $400,000.
Sent postward as the 3-1 second choice on the toteboard in the 10th race, Dr. Andrew Roberts' homebred filly Docs Sausalito followed third in the lineup along the pylons for most of the mile before finding clearance in the stretch to draw off by four lengths for the 1:54.1 victory. Slight favourite Marvalous Jet came on for second while Collective Wisdom, the longest shot in the race at odds of 62-1, emerged from the pocket to finish third. Queenofthejungle (8-1) and post 10 starter Tempus Seelster (4-1) rounded out the top five finish order.
Randy Waples drove Docs Sausalito for trainer Nick Gallucci, whose stable went two-for-two on the program. The Art Colony filly topped the winning combination of 3-5-9-4-10, which paid $3,996.12 for a $1-based wager.
The wager's jackpot, which pays out only when there is a single winning ticket, now stands at $392,137 heading into tomorrow's card.
The Jackpot Hi 5 will be offered until the conclusion of the Saturday, Dec. 17 program at which point the wager will be held over until the December 23 card. There will be a mandatory payout in effect during that card of racing.
