In what was her first charted mile since suffering an atrial fibrillation in the Forest City Pace on October 30, the Travis Umphrey-trained A Ps Money Maker took part in Mohawk Racetrack's qualifying session Thursday

morning over the Campbellville, Ont. oval.

The five-year-old Cardmaster Hanover mare started from Post 2 in Race 8, the last dash on the docket. Although the track was rated 'fast,' there was a one-second allowance in time given by the presiding Ontario Racing Commission judges.

With pilot Rick Zeron at her lines, A Ps Money Maker shot to the lead early and clicked off the opening quarter in :29.3. The career winner of 19 races and $579,838 in purses was covered up in the second quarter of the race when Alexie Mattosie (driven by Paul MacDonell) took over command and lead the field to the :57.4 opening half-mile marker.

Alexie Mattosie was on the engine the rest of the way. The four-year-old gelded son of No Pan Intended hit the three-quarters in 1:25.4 and came home in :29.2 for a one and a half-length win in 1:55.1.

A Ps Money Maker finished second and was individually timed in 1:55.2.
