'Swagger' 7-For-7 At Flamboro

If ever an equine athlete embodied the "horses for courses" angle, Travis Cullen's Hes Got Swagger may well be the one.

On Wednesday night (Dec. 19), Hes Got Swagger ($2.10) captured his seventh win in as many starts over the Flamboro Downs racetrack, wiring his five rivals in the featured $8,800 top-level conditioned pace in 1:54.4.

Cullen sent the three-year-old Vintage Master gelding straight to the top from post 4, and the pair were uncontested through early splits of :28, :58.1 and 1:26.4 before powering clear on the final turn. In all, he defeated pocket rival Machlicious (Scott Young) by 3-1/4 lengths, while Bravado Seelster (Ryan Derosche) saved ground from last to narrowly take third.

Hes Got Swagger, who was acquired by Cullen in September, has gone undefeated thus far at Flamboro under the care of trainer Jodie Cullen despite having struggled in late closers at Woodbine Mohawk Park through the autumn.
