Santa drove himself to the party (in a jog cart, of course) and the Washington County Food Bank benefited from an evening of harness racing at The Meadows on Friday night (Dec. 18).

The Meadows Standardbred Owners Association (MSOA) hosted the event, which helped to raise money and awareness for the local food bank.

“This was our first time working with the Washington Food Bank, and it’s a relationship we will definitely continue,” said MSOA President Rich Gillock. “It was a great night of racing and we are pleased that we could partner with them to help families in our area.”

Santa’s arrival was eagerly anticipated by many young race fans, who then had the chance to sit on his knee and make their holiday requests, as well as get cookies from Mrs. Claus and the MSOA.

It was a successful night of racing, the final evening card for the 2015 season at The Meadows. While the track settles back into afternoon cards for the remainder of the year and much of January, the next evening races will take place on Friday, Jan. 22, the MSOA’s annual Night of Champions event.
