Daylon Magician, a winner of more than $1.6 million during his impressive racing career, has been retired and will stand stud at Tara Hills Stud Farm in Port Perry, Ontario, for the 2013 breeding season.

The multiple stakes winner will stand alongside his sire, Kadabra, the leading trotting stallion in Canada. An O’Brien Award winner last year as Canada’s three-year-old trotting colt of the year, and nominated again in 2012 as trotting horse of the year, Daylon Magician is Kadabra’s richest offspring.

As a two-year-old, Daylon Magician made just eight starts and culminated his season winning the Ontario Sires Stakes Super Final in his final rookie start. He concluded his debut season with $225,000 in earnings and a mark of 1:55.3.

At three, his summary was 11-2-3 from 17 starts, with earnings of over $1-million and a record of 1:52.3. His stakes victories that season included the elimination and final of the $1-million Canadian Trotting Classic (defeating Chapter Seven), the Canadian Breeders Championship final and several OSS Gold events, including a world-record-matching 1:54.2 effort over a half-mile track.

This past season at four, Daylon Magician added an additional $308,000 to his bankroll. He captured the Ontario Masters Final and earned his life's record of 1:51.1 with a six-length victory in an Open at Mohawk Racetrack.

Daylon Magician is from the $129,000 winning mare Daylon Marvel and is a half-brother to stakes winners Daylon Mystique ($332,000) and Daylon Miracle ($143,000).

Daylon Magician will stand his first season at stud for an introductory fee of $3,500. For further information, please visit tarahills.com.
