Vince Copeland guided Cash On Delivery to a 1:55 victory in the Wednesday, Dec. 19 feature race -- the $16,000 Winners Over Handicap Trot -- at Dover Downs.
With race favourite Magic Wheel and Brad Hanners cutting out the lead heading to the final turn, Cash On Delivery was on the go following Tagyoureit Hanover, driven by Ross Wolfenden, on the outside on the backstretch. Copeland sent Cash On Delivery three-wide at the three-quarters and rushed past the leaders on the turn for home. Cash On Delivery responded with his fifth win of the year for owner David Miller. The Cash Hall-Direct Dial four-year-old gelding was followed by late-closing veteran Man About Town and Eric Carlson. Mandabra, with Corey Callahan, was third.
The traditional Christmas Holiday Week Break begins after Thursday’s races, from Dec. 21 through Dec. 28. When racing resumes on Saturday, Dec. 29, post time will be 5:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday, starting time is 4:30 p.m. No racing on Fridays. In January, Saturday and Sunday post time moves to 1:30 p.m.
