Hp Mama B overcame the outside and a field made up of five males at Woodbine Mohawk Park on Monday, Dec. 18 as the five-year-old mare won the $36,000 Preferred Trot.
Louis-Philippe Roy and the lone mare left hard from post six, but was bested to the pylons by Truffles Too (Doug McNair). From the outside, Hp Mama B was the first to click the opening quarter panel in :27.4. After that station, Hp Mama B assumed control with open track ahead. She clicked out two more panels in :55.4 and 1:23.4 before romping home to win by 6-1/2 lengths in 1:54 over the 'good' track. Truffles Too followed in the pocket to take second and Amigo Volo (Tyler Borth) completed the triactor.
Hp Mama B (Royalty For Life-Winters Jewel) moved her career earnings to $799,803 with a record of 22-13-11 in 72 starts. This season, the Ben Baillargeon student has made six trips to the winner's circle and banked $243,480. She is owned by Guylaine Picard and Celine Paquin. She paid $5.30 to win as the 2-1 second choice.
Along with Hp Mama B, Baillargeon sent Cactustotheclouds (Borth, $11) and Quebec Hanover (Borth, $5.30) to the track as victors to collect a training hat trick.
