Jody Jamieson wasted no time in hustling Will Take Charge to the lead in the six-horse affair, and the recently acquired performer didn’t look back.
The four-year-old son of Kadabra-Celebrity Angel chopped out splits of :26.3, :55.4 and 1:24.1 before using a closing panel clocked in :29 to win by 2-3/4 lengths over Big Rich in 1:53.1. Taking home third prize was Catch The Dream.
Jeff Gillis trains the Ontario Sires Stakes graduate for owner Mac Nichol of Burlington, Ont. It was the sixth win of the 2017 campaign for the 12-time winner who bumped his lifetime earnings to $558,550 with the triumph.
