Preferred Upset For Twilight Seelster

Not even a first-over journey could keep Twilight Seelster and driver Phil Hudon from pulling off an 8-1 upset in Wednesday’s $7,500 Fillies & Mares Preferred 3 at Flamboro Downs.

Twilight Seelster slid into the five-hole early while After Alimony charged to the top and served up an opening quarter clocked in :27. She cruised through middle splits of :56.4 and 1:26.1 while feeling moderate pressure from the first-over attacker, Twilight Seelster. The latter then used a :30.1 closing panel to win by three-quarters of a length over the dead-heating tandem of After Alimony and Insincerity. Time for the mile was 1:56.4.

Ian Hyatt trains the five-year-old daughter of Modern Art-Titania Seelster for owner Brad Wilson of Lambton Shores, Ontario. The distaffer improved this year’s record to 7-1-4 from 27 starts with the win. The 24-time winner has stashed away more than $178,000 to date.
