Dave Palone, harness racing’s 'winningest' driver, padded his lead over the sport’s reinsmen Wednesday at the Meadows when he collected seven wins on the 15-race program.
Palone drove a pair of winners for trainer Ron Burke and one each for trainers Rod Bolon, Brent Davis, Kelly O’Donnell, Norm Parker and Brandon Presto.
The seven-win performance leaves him just seven wins shy of hitting the 500-win mark this season. He’s notched 17,301 career victories while racking up more than $128 million in purse earnings to date.
In Tuesday’s feature, the $15,000 Filly & Mare Not Listed Preferred Pace, Macharoundtheclock added blinkers and rolled to a front-end victory in 1:52.4 for Mike Wilder, trainer Tim Twaddle and owner Birnam Wood Farms. Jaded Dream rallied for second, a length back, with Misssomebeach Blue third.
The five-year-old homebred daughter of Mach Three-Summers Soul extended her career bankroll to $494,873.
Live racing at The Meadows resumes Friday, with an appearance expected by that Jolly Old Railbird himself, Santa Claus. First post is 6:55 p.m.
