Trot Insider has learned that on an evening where the members of the Casie Coleman stable will be celebrating their successful 2009 racing season, there will be much focus on some horsepeople in need

.

Coleman has told Trot Insider that tonight is the night that members of her team will be receiving their individual splits of the earnings from this year's 'company horse,' Wildmotion.

Trot Insider profiled the five-year-old Camotion gelding yesterday in a story about Coleman's Christmas bonus to her faithful employees.

"The members (also collectively known as the By A Mile Stable) of the stable and I have discussed it, and what we've decided to do is take $1,500 of the horse's earnings right off the top and donate it to the fund that has been started up in support of the trainers and owners that have been directly affected by the Lebanon Raceway barn fire," Coleman told Trot Insider.

The donation to the Lebanon fund comes on the heels of a $1,000 donation that the By A Mile Stable made to the recent benefit at Fraser Downs in support of the Royal Jubilee Hospital burn unit in Victoria, British Columbia.

Coleman herself knows the devastating affects of barn fires, as she suffered burns to 22 per cent of her body in a 2000 barn fire at Sandown Park in Victoria.

"I think I'm lucky to be alive after having survived a barn fire, so when I hear of other fires and the devastation they can cause it really does hit home quite a bit," said Coleman, who also commented on how it is unbelievable how the industry unites for those in need.

"As we all know, it is very common for horsepeople in the industry to be quite divided over a variety of different issues, but when something like the Lebanon fire happens out of the blue it is unreal to see how everybody looks past their differences and unites for a cause we can all relate to."

Coleman said that she will be handing out her crew their splits of Wildmotion's earnings at a dinner outing at The Keg.

What a great group of people. Its easy for anyone to say "what is the big deal" but let me tell you, I have been involved with horses for the last 10 plus years, you don't get many people that do what these people do on a daily basis. This is one of the reasons why Team Coleman gets respected both on and off the track. From their grooms to exercise drivers. The whole bunch make it a pleasure to work with. I almost lost complete faith in how the industry was run, and after being involved as an owner stabled over at Casie's i can tell you this is how racing should be. Congrats to By A Mile Stable, Casie on a great 2009, the staff, her owners, and anyone whose had the pleasure of being part of it. Good on them... great on the industry.

Cheers,

Big A

says that when I read articles like this I can't help but wonder why all the other can't be the same..But as we all know Casie and her staff and their beliefs RISE above the rest..Too bad all stables were not like hers.
Congratulations Casie and your staff on a job well done!!!!
You LEAD by example..!!!!!
