Race favourite Vero Amore Bi ventured first over to win the $8,600 Preferred Trot on Sunday, December 15 at Rideau Carleton Raceway.
Lmc Mass Gem led mostly unchallenged through early fractions of :28.2 and :59 until trainer/driver Michael Healey sent Vero Amore Bi after the leader passing the half. The five-year-old son of Manofmanymissions drew within a length of the lead passing three-quarters in 1:28.1 but stalled circling the final turn. In the straightaway Vero Amore Bi regained momentum and surged by Lmc Mass Gem to win by a length in 1:58.3. Pocketsitter Undercover Strike finished third.
Owned by Anna Lee Ramage, Vero Amore Bi won his 12th race from 36 starts this season and his 19th from 57 overall, surpassing $200,000 in earnings. He paid $5.90 to win.
