Ginger Tree Skyr Scores At Dover

Ginger Tree Skyr wired the field in the Winners Over/Select Trot at Dover Downs on Tuesday night (Dec. 14).

Driver Corey Callahan and Ginger Tree Skyr aggressively moved from third and cut the mile past the :27.4 first quarter. Quiksilvr Blue Chip yielded to ride a pocket trip into a :56.4 half. Remarkable De Vie moved first over down the backstretch but could only offer mild pressure to Ginger Tree Skyr to three-quarters in 1:25.2. Ginger Tree Skyr drew off in the stretch and won by three lengths in 1:54.2.

Ginger Tree Skyr paid $4 for the win. A son of Explosive Matter, he is owned by Nick Callahan, Yorwollahan Racing Team and Gregory Godbout all from Delaware. He is trained by Nicholas Callahan and his son Corey Callahan was in the bike.

Blue Cupertino saved ground along the pylons and finished second. Joe Columbo trains and Mike Cole drove. Remarkable De Vie held third. Traci Berry trains that one and Pat Berry drove.

It was a big night for Corey Callahan as he won four races on the betting card. Soho Burning Love A highlights the mares Open Handicap Pace on Wednesday.

On Thursday there are four divisions of the Delaware Standardbred Breeders’ Fund Finals for three-year-old pacers and trotters. Each Final carries a purse of $100,000. Jacks Legend N looks for his third-consecutive victory in the $25,000 Open Handicap Pace. Post Time for Dover Downs is 4:30 p.m. (EST).

Dover Downs live harness racing will be dark from Dec. 17 thru Dec. 26 in observance of the Christmas Holiday. Live harness racing resumes on Monday, Dec. 27.
