The majority of the win pool money found its way to the nose of Il Sogno Dream in Monday’s $34,000 Preferred at Woodbine Racetrack, but Fearless Man bounced his foe to win by a head in the featured tilt for trotters.
Hldontghttoyurdrms shot to the early lead and had the field chasing him past the quarter pole in :28, but it wasn’t a long stint on the lead for the longshot. Fearless Man took to the outside and brushed to the front with Burnin Money hot on his heels. Burnin Money had the lead through middle panels of :56.1 and 1:24.4, but Fearless Man used a :30-second closing quarter to prevail by a head over the late-rushing favourite, Il Sogno Dream, in 1:55. Burnin Money held on for the show dough.
It was the fifth win of the season for the five-year-old son of Elegant Man-Lasting Beauty, who prevailed for trainer/driver Rick Zeron. The 21-time winner, who now boasts a bankroll of $358,731, is owned by Rick Zeron Stables, Noblock Racing Stable, Murray Greenfield and Cool Cat Racing Inc.
