Allamerican Cheer used the same game-plan as last week closing fast in the stretch to annex his second-straight $16,000 Winners-Over Trot
on Wednesday, Dec. 14, at Dover Downs.
Again driver Ross Wolfenden sat patiently as a succession of rivals battled for the lead. In the stretch, the Yankee Glide-Chelemark Ginger five-year-old mare bested her seven opponents on the way to a 1:55.1 victory in the week’s top trot. Fred Hertrich bred and owns Allamerican Cheer, trained by Charles Tribbett, who posted her sixth win of the campaign raising her seasonal earnings to $36,934. Lets Get Serious N (George Dennis) had the lead in the stretch but had to settle for second.
Road Rash was placed first in the $14,000 sub-feature trot when Tudy (Matt Kakaley) was disqualified and placed out of the money after breaking stride and not losing ground in deep stretch while leading. Corey Callahan drove Road Rash for George and Janette Hobbs. An altered son of Broadway Hall-Customary Logo, the five-year-old was followed by Jeter Marvel (Toby Lynch) placed second and Idol Kemp (Roger Plante) placed third. The race time was 1:57. The win was the second of the day for trainer Eddie Dennis whose trotter E&J Stable’s Striking Victress won the first race, her second win in a row.
In the first of two $10,000 trots, Bret Brittingham drove Chocolate N Roses, a four-year-old CR Commando-Confederate Rose mare he owns with trainer Erika Paradee to a 1:56 lifetime record performance. Classical Ballet (Bill Long) was next with JL Rockin Jake (Bob Shahan) third.
Allmar Surprise had no aversion to starting from post 8 in the other $10,000 trot. Vic Kirby shot away quickly from the starting gate to gain the early lead and was never troubled the rest of a 1:54.3 mile. Justherighttouch (Corey Callahan) was runner-up. Powerful Charger (Daryl Bier) was third.
Meet leading driver Corey Callahan drove three winners while Sean Bier, Ross Wolfenden and Vic Kirby picked up driving doubles. Trainers Eddie Dennis, Crissy Bier and Gary Evans collected two wins apiece.
Live harness racing resumes Thursday with a 4:30 p.m. post time.
