Only two days remain in Kawartha Downs' 2009 live racing season.

Although wagering declined slightly, the crowds continued to come out all summer long and attendance was up over the previous year.

At this time, Kawartha Downs, its horses, horsepeople and staff would like to wish all of its fans a very Merry Christmas.

Santa Claus will be paying KD a visit on the final night of live racing, Saturday December, 19. The track will also be hosting a turkey dinner on the main floor from 6:30 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. at a cost of $12 per person. Kawartha will be closed the following week.

The track's 2010 season of live racing will begin Saturday, January 2 with a 1:00 p.m. first-race post time.

Racing for January and February will follow the following schedule:

• Tuesdays -- first-race post time 4:15 p.m.
• Saturdays -- first-race post time 1:00 p.m.
