Remy Brown N received a perfect steer from driver Bradley Chisholm to win the featured $14,583 conditioned pace for fillies and mares at The Meadowlands on Friday, Dec. 12.
The six-year-old daughter of Vincent-Paddy Brown displayed high speed at the start from post seven in the 10-horse field, reaching the quarter on the point in :27.1. Blood Moon A (Brett Beckwith), who had drawn post 10, also had the pedal down early, racing alongside the eventual winner at the quarter before taking the top spot and leading at the half in :55.3.
Jillian Jiggs (Vinny Ginsburg) was moving quickly at that point and raced up alongside the leader, applying pressure at three-quarters as they reached that mark in 1:24. Blood Moon A shrugged off Jillian Jiggs at the head of the stretch, but just inside the eighth pole, Remy Brown N found room from the pocket and out-sprinted the hard-charging Tennis Queen (Jacob Cutting) to record a safe neck victory along the inside in 1:52. Tennis Queen was second with Blood Moon A third.
“She missed a week prior to her last start,” said Chisholm. “So, we were happy to take a less aggressive approach at the non-winners of $7,500 [USD] level. We dropped down to the non-winners of $5,000 [USD tonight]. The post wasn’t ideal, but with her early speed, it put her into the race. She still had to do the work at both ends [of the mile], so good on her.”
A member of the Darren Cassar barn, Remy Brown N earned her fourth win of the season in 20 starts and 18th victory overall. She returned $11 to win as the 9-2 third choice in the wagering.
Ithaca Hanover won the 13th race at odds of 28-1, resulting in no winning tickets being sold on the 20-cent Pick-6, creating a carryover of $3,069 when racing resumes. Those with five correct selections collected $8.30.
Kyle Symington, Mark Herschberger and Braxten Boyd led the driver colony with two wins apiece. Brian Magie’s pair of victories were tops among the trainers.
All-source handle on the 14-race program totalled $2,266,188 USD.
Racing resumes on Saturday at 6:20 p.m.
