Beachin Lindy was three-wide at the half to speed to victory in the $13,000 Preferred Pace at The Raceway at the Western Fair District on Tuesday (Dec. 13) evening.
Night Watchman (Nicholas Boyd) took control of the field early as bettors' choice Beachin Lindy (Austin Sorrie) got away fifth off the car from the rail. Beachin Lindy was 6-1/2 lengths off the leader as the quarter was reached in :28. Little Manny (Tyler Borth) pulled first over and Beachin Lindy followed his cover. After the :58.1 half, Austin Sorrie pulled his right line once more to make an advance around Little Manny. Beachin Lindy stepped on the gas to breeze to the top, hitting the three-quarters in 1:27.3. Sorrie and Beachin Lindy kept on pushing down the stretch to win by 1-1/2 lengths in 1:55.4. Heza Handy Man (Michael Horner) jumped up with late pace to grab second and Night Watchman finished third.
Stephen Charlton owns and trains Beachin Lindy, a winner of seven starts this year. The seven-year-old Somebeachsomewhere gelding has accumulated $272,791 in career earnings and 26 lifetime wins.
