Tim Tetrick can add another accomplishment to his Hall of Fame resume as the reinsman can put his name alongside that of good ol' St. Nick as a pilot of reindeer in December.

In advance of the first ever Arctic Horse Race event in Finland on Saturday (Dec. 14) Tetrick was given the opportunity to sit behind some reindeer in Rovaniemi, the town located in the Arctic Circle that's known as the official home of Santa Claus.

"They just kind of turn you loose, there's no brakes. It kind of messes you up a little bit," Tetrick told Ilkka Nisula, communications officer for Finland's betting operator Veikkaus. "They said I made them go fast enough so I guess I did alright."

In addition to the usual Standardbred horses Tetrick is most familiar sitting behind, he'll also drive in two races featuring Finnhorses.

"I'm super excited, I've always wanted to drive one and now I get the opportunity to. They look like amazing animals from what I've got to see...hopefully I can put on a good show tomorrow."

Tetrick arrived in Finland earlier this week and made an appearance on VeikkausTV, discussing harness racing in North America.

The Arctic Horse Race event features Tetrick along with Finland's Jorma Kontio, Mauri Jaara, Jukka Torvinen, Hannu Torvinen, Petteri Joki, Olli Koivunen, Santtu Raitala, Antii Teivainen, Iikka Nurmonen, Sweden's Jens Eriksson and Norway's Hans Christian Holm. The races will be live streamed through the Arctic Horse Race website starting at around 11:00 a.m. EST
