Grey Ice Upsets; Five More For Pierce

Grey Ice overlooked at 10-1 won the feature trot and Beads N Weeds took the top pace at Dover Downs on Saturday, December 12. Meet leading driver Ron Pierce had another five-win day, his third of the week and 21st victory since Monday

In the $14,000 3&4-Year-Old trot, Sean Bier driving 10-1 Grey Ice sat patiently behind dueling leaders Copper Harbor (Carlo Poliseno) and All Night Dwight (Corey Callahan) from the very start until reaching the three-quarter pole when All Night Dwight tired. Grey Ice immediately came out and quick stepped past Copper Harbor and continued on for an early four-length victory in a lifetime record time of 1:58.

Jeff Long trains the winner for Howard Stables. It was The Icepan Cometh-The E Street Pan grey gelding's fourth career win in only 10 races. Copper Harbor was alone in second. Blue Boy Yankee (Ridge Warren) closed strongly to win a photo for third.

Eddie Davis, Jr. and Beads N Weeds stalked second-place Cruisen Chick (Jim Morand) from the very start and then overtook the leader in a stretch long battle deep in the lane as the sophomore daughter of Badlands Hanover-Coho Salmon recorded her fastest lifetime win, a 1:55.4 decision in a $13,200 3&4-Year-Old pace.

Janet Davis trains the winner for Al Moor and J&E Stable Inc. Cruisen Chick held on for second in front of White Diamonds (Kim Vincent).

Three-wide Red Mans Hand closed with a rush for Corey Callahan to win the $20,000 Claiming Allowance in 1:54.1.

Pierce won five races for the third time this week giving him 21 winning drives since Monday. Wolfenden and Callahan had driving doubles.
