Moments Of Joy scored a minor upset in the $25,000 Mares Open Pace at Dover Downs on Wednesday night (Dec. 11).
Moments Of Joy and driver Victor Kirby left quickly before yielding the lead to 3-5 favourite Wisdom Tree (Tony Morgan) past a :27.1 first quarter. Wisdom Tree controlled a :55 half before Valuable Art (Corey Callahan) rushed first-up to pressure the leader to three-quarters in 1:23 while Moments Of Joy waited patiently in the pocket.
The five-year-old daughter of Western Terror stormed home down the inside to win by a half length in 1:51.1. Wisdom Tree was second, and Rockin The Boys A (Dexter Dunn) finished third.
Moments Of Joy, a $6,000 yearling purchase for owner-trainer Bryan Truitt, pushed her lifetime earnings over $200,000 with victory.
Dexter Dunn led all drivers with five wins on the card.
