Call Me Yours rallied three-wide past the third quarter mark and swept by pacesetter Epoxy Queen to conquer the Preferred filly and mare pacers during Saturday night's harness racing card at Western Fair Raceway
.
Favourite Sand Gesture (Mark Williams) worked hard to make the lead ahead of Michelles Idea (Nick Steward) early on in the $12,000 feature, but Epoxy Queen (Ross Battin) also had her sights set on the top spot and reached up to take over at the :27.4 quarter pole.
As the 'Queen' led the eight-horse field to the next marker in :57.2, Misty Moonstone (Peter Core) began to advance first over from mid-pack with Call Me Yours and driver Stuart Sowerby following her cover from fifth.
Down the backstretch, the eager Call Me Yours went three-deep and brushed up alongside the leader by three-quarters in 1:26.1. She cleared to command and opened up three lengths off the final bend to score her second straight win at Western Fair in 1:56 flat. Sand Gesture edged out Epoxy Queen for second.
Stephen Gillard of Tavistock, Ont. owns, bred and trains the Your Nemesis-Lucky Call mare, who recorded her sixth win of her six-year-old campaign and 27th lifetime. The lion's share of the purse pushed her earnings to $382,390.
Call Me Yours paid $13.50 to win as the 5-1 fourth choice.
