Oh Look Magic tallied his fourth top-level victory in his last five starts as he went all the way in the $38,889 Open Handicap Trot at Hollywood Gaming at Dayton Raceway on Wednesday, Dec. 10.
Chris Page guided the gelding from the assigned outside post seven to the front, and Oh Look Magic rattled off :27.4, :57.1, and 1:26.1 fractions before cruising off to a 2-3/4-length victory in 1:55 over a track rated good. Flagman (Luke Plano) finished second, followed by Yo Beth D (Trevor Smith).
Oh Look Magic, a five-year-old son of Lookslikeachpndale-Miami Magic, is conditioned by Ron Burke for Burke Racing Stable and Weaver Bruscemi. He has won 24 of 83 lifetime starts and now three straight Opens. He paid $3 to win.
Hall of Fame driver David Miller celebrated his birthday with a top-notch performance on the card, returning to the winner's circle after the first three races and adding an additional win late on the program.
The 61-year-old reinsman, who recently moved back to the Buckeye State from the Northeast, got the night started with an off-the pace-effort behind Burning Sole ($5) in 1:57.1. He then completed the early double with a narrow first-over win with Abbey D ($16.60) in 1:56.3. After winning by a nose in the second race, Miller and Dame On ($2.20) dead heated with Stud Muffin T ($5) and Trevor Smith in the third in 1:57.1. Miller completed his grand slam in another close finish, winning with Seaside Party ($27.80) in 1:55.3 by a neck in the 12th race.
Racing continues on Thursday at Dayton Raceway with a 4 p.m. post time.
