On Monday, Dec. 9, Alittlesidehustl N captured her fifth Fillies and Mares Open of the season at Saratoga Casino Hotel. The Jackie Greene trainee went coast-to-coast in the afternoon’s feature.
Alittlesidehustl N was guided to the lead from her outside post in the seven-horse field by reinsman Billy Dobson, who gave her fractions of :28.1 and :57.1 in lap one. The talented mare never faced much of a challenge in the second half en route to her fifth Open score of the 2024 campaign. Alittlesidehustl N stopped the timer in 1:55.3 over a track labelled ‘good’ in a race that saw her pay $6.20 to win as the co-favourite in the feature.
The 26-1 longshot Truly (Jimmy Devaux) closed strongly to finish second, while Waitforever N (Brett Beckwith) came from further back to take third in the $21,127 feature.
Alittlesidehustl N, owned by Kellogg Racing and Jackie Greene Stables of NY, has had a standout season, earning $135,658 to date. She is also one of three nominees for Saratoga's Filly and Mare Pacer of the Year Award.
Greene scored a training double on Monday when her Sweeter Than Lou pulled off an upset in the finale, wiring the field in 1:59.4 at odds of 22-1 in a $13,380 conditional race for fillies and mares. Jimmy Devaux piloted Sweeter Than Lou to her longshot victory.
Live harness racing at Saratoga continues on Tuesday, Dec. 10.
