After failing to have his picture taken this year on the WEG circuit, trotter Prayer Session has been unbeatable in his new stateside surroundings.
In the $13,500 Winners-Over sub-feature on Wednesday at Dover Downs, Prayer Session, a Like A Prayer-ENS Tag Session gelding trained by Trish Foulk, reeled off his fourth straight victory since being purchased by Foulk and Brit Evans in mid-October. Wednesday's win was a 1:56.4 triumph with meet-leading driver Corey Callahan in the bike. Powerful Charger (Trace Tetrick) came rushing down the lane to finish second in front of Spunky Jack (Roger Plante).
It was déjà vu again in the $18,000 Open trot. As last time, Andy Miller moved Martz Time into the lead early and dictated the pace on the way to a 1:54.2 victory in the week’s top trot. The Triple Lindy (Vic Kirby) streaked from last at the three-quarters to finish a strong second while consistent Baximum (Allan Davis) took third money. Im So Striking was scratched, reducing the race to six starters.
John McGill and Brian Carsey own Martz Time, an altered son of Primetime Ranger-Beccas Best, now a seven-time winner this season earning $118,700.
There were several long, long shots during the card. Corey Callahan drove 47-1 Why Not Lindy to a 1:56.2 victory and Montrell Teague got home Kodak Lindy at 48-1.
Corey Callahan made the winner’s circle four times, Allan Davis, Montrell Teague and trainer Carlo Poliseno had two wins.
