Jeffery P cruised to his fourth straight — and 15th win this year — in Wednesday’s $16,000 Open Handicap Trot at Hollywood Casino at The Meadows.
Once Jeffery P seized the lead from post six, pocketed his most dangerous rival, King Alphonso, and worked out a comfortable :57.4 half, the contest for win was pretty much over. The six-year-old Full Count-Betty Jean gelding triumphed in 1:54.1, 2-1/4 lengths better than King Alphonso, with Perlucky a ground-saving third.
Dave Palone drove Jeffery P, who lifted his lifetime bankroll to $362,761, for trainer Ron Burke and owners Burke Racing Stable, Weaver Bruscemi LLC and Phillip Collura. It was one of five victories on the 12-race card for Palone.
Live racing at The Meadows continues Thursday when the 12-race program features a pair of carryovers: $2,273 in the final-race Super Hi-5, $544.28 in the Pick 5 (Race 4). First post is 12:45 p.m.
