Enjoying his seat behind the dueling leaders, Rembrandt Spur charged through snow showers and the Lightning Lane to capture Wednesday’s $22,500 Preferred Handicap Trot at The Meadows.

Sir Caviar controlled the early fractions but was challenged down the backside by Triumphant Caviar. Rembrandt Spur saved ground and energy along the pylons, then brushed inside for trainer-driver Dick Stillings to score in 1:56 over a track rated “good.” Triumphant Caviar was second, a head back, while Sir Caviar saved show despite a late break.

Roy Davis owns Rembrandt Spur, a four-year-old Pegasus Spur-Marty E gelding, who holds or shares four Meadows’ track records and extended his career bankroll to $334,528.

Dave Palone drove five winners on the 15-race card.
