According to a report, the recently announced ban of steeplechase and jumps racing in the Australian state of Victoria has led to overwhelming support from industry stakeholders for the Australian Jumps Racing Association to fight the decision

.

"We have a pretty clear position on where we want to go with this issue," AJRA president Rodney Rae was quoted as saying. "We want this decision rescinded, as simple as that, and we will be seeking shareholder support to have that achieved.

"We have considered some courses of action we can take, others we are seeking addition advice on, but our first preference is to have this matter resolved within the industry with our fellow shareholders."

The controversial decision to ban steeplechase / jump racing at some point in 2010 has come after 20 horses have lost their lives during races conducted over the past two years.
