Brent MacGrath, the co-owning trainer of pacing superstar Somebeachsomewhere, engaged in a question and answer session with thechronicleherald.ca after 'The Beach' won the Breeders Crown Saturday at the Meadowlands Racetrack.
MacGrath discussed his Mach Three colt, but also talked about the Maritime racing industry and his future in the game once Somebeachsomewhere hits the breeding shed.
"He’s revitalized it (the Nova Scotia standardbred racing industry) a lot," MacGrath said. "He’s not going to turn it around completely. There were a lot of people who went to the track to watch the simulcast races, people who hadn’t gone to the races in a long time. It was because of him. They wanted to know when he was racing and they followed him everywhere. And owners are definitely getting into the business because of him."
