Crossfit advanced from last to first to win the $10,000 Preferred Handicap Trot at Rideau Carleton Raceway on Thursday, Nov. 9.

Guy Gagnon eased the Victor Puddy trainee off the gate and into fifth place in the field of five. After remaining stagnant through panels in :27.4 and :58.1, Crossfit began his journey to the top on the way to the three-quarters in 1:28. However, as the third-over adventurer, the gelding remained in fifth. Down the lane, Crossfit found his way to even terms against the pacesetting Fix A Drink (Jimmy Gagnon). At the wire, Crossfit prevailed in 1:58.2 by a nose over the favoured Fix A Drink. Raising Rusty (Stephane Pouliot) rounded out the triactor.

Gordon McDonald and Christopher Boland co-own the seven-year-old Donato Hanover gelding, who earned his ninth win of the season from 35 starts and recorded his 32nd career triumph. He now boasts $346,403 in career earnings. Crossfit returned $5.50 to win.
