Lady Newton rolled to her fifth straight victory — and earned a 1:51.2 lifetime mark to boot — in Tuesday’s feature at Hollywood Casino at The Meadows, a $12,100 filly & mare conditioned pace.
Lady Newton got away third, but once Aaron Merriman sent the 1-5 favourite to the point at the quarter, the race for win was pretty much over. Lady Newton widened her lead late and defeated All Day Sunshine by 2-3/4 lengths, with early leader Something Reel third.
Bill Bercury trains Lady Newton, a three-year-old daughter of Sweet Lou-Im Sassy, for Renee Bercury.
Merriman collected five wins on the 12-race card while David Miller, Ronnie Wrenn Jr. and trainer Ron Burke each enjoyed a three-bagger.
Live racing at The Meadows continues Wednesday when the 12-race program features a $3,807.62 carryover in the final-race Super Hi-5. First post is 12:45 p.m.
