Two-year-olds were in the spotlight Monday at Dover Downs as the oval hosted a trio of Delaware Standardbred Breeders Fund divisions for filly trotters.
The fastest DSBF prelim belonged to Epic Smash, who was an easy winner in 2:01.2 with Pat Berry driving the Political Briefing-Giant Smash filly for Craparotta and Berry Racing. It was the second win of the year for the $73,208 winner. Press Corp (Art Stafford, Jr.) and Henny Penny (Carlo Poliseno) were second and third, respectively.
With program favourite Cicadas Song scratched, Chestnut Chic broke her maiden with a victory in the first $20,000 DSBF prelim. The chestnut daughter of Impel Hanover-Comical Dream scored a 2:03.1 victory. Princess Politics (Wayne Long) was second with Harpers Ego (Jason Thompson) finishing third.
Miss Baltimore (Tony Morgan) was strongest in the stretch to notch a 2:05.1 win in the second DSBF trot. It was the first career score for the Master Lavec-Country Inn freshman trained by Kyle Moore for owner Don Marine. Triple Bottom Line (Jeff Fout) came home second.
Tim Tetrick put on a driving clinic during Monday’s card thanks to a five-win performance.
He clicked with Time Out Im Tired (1:53.4), Dapper Dude (1:50), Rocknroll Jewel (1:50.3), Arockin Hanover (1:53.1) and Dont Ya Know (1:51.3).
