Returning to The Meadows’ top trot after sharpening his game in a conditioned race, Rembrandt Spur made up six and three-quarter lengths late to capture Wednesday’s $22,500 Preferred Handicap Trot

The all-age track record-holder on the trot, Rembrandt Spur endured a long drought before taking an Oct. 22 conditioned event. He flashed his old form Wednesday when he swung wide in the stretch for trainer-driver Dick Stillings and scored in 1:54, his fastest win this year. Bettis raced well off a seven-month layoff, finishing second by a neck, with Pembroke Snapshot third.

Roy Davis owns Rembrandt Spur, a five-year-old Pegasus Spur-Marty E gelding, who pushed his career bankroll to $428,253.

Greg Grismore drove four winners on the 15-race card.
