Elfin Tops Third Harrisburg Yearling Session

Bidding topped the $100,000 mark on a trio of yearlings selling on Wednesday, Nov. 8 during the third day of the Standardbred Horse Sale at the Pennsylvania State Farm Show Complex in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania.

Elfin, Hip 780, was the mid-week session's topper with bidding peaking at $102,000. Consigned by Hunterton Sales Agency, the Googoo Gaagaa-Be Bop Sally filly was purchased by Kenneth Jacobs of Baldwinsville, New York. Her dam is a half-sister to the dam of world champion  S I P ($441,583 - 1:51.2h).

Two other trotting fillies garnered final bids of $100,000. 

Killemwithkindness, Hip 620, was purchased by Exceed Stables LLC from the Concord Stud Farm consignment. The daughter of E L Titan is the first filly out of the Indiana stakes winner Nothing But Nice ($352,642 - 1:55f) and she is a full sister to the New York stakes-winning colt, Tillios Action ($115,544 - Q1:53.3).

Imagining, Hip 820, was acquired by Francisco Del Cid of Hamilton, New Jersey. Consigned by Hunterton Sales Agency, the Tactical Landing filly is the first foal out of 55-time winner Dreamsteeler ($527,632 - 1:53.4h).

In total, 313 yearlings were sold on Wednesday for gross sales of $5,957,000, averaging $19,032.

The 2023 Standardbred Horse Sale's yearling portion grossed $35,870,000 over three days, down approximately 19 per cent from last year's record $44,356,000. A total of 810 yearlings were sold over the three days for an average price of $44,284.

 The 2023 Standardbred Horse Sale continues on Thursday with the first of two mixed sessions at 10 a.m., followed by a Friday session beginning at 11 a.m.
