Part Time Lady won her Fraser Downs debut in the $10,500 Fillies & Mares Open Handicap Pace, defeating back-to-back winner Phone Terror on Sunday afternoon.
Paul Davies drove the six-year-old Jeremes Jet mare, who gave way to the advancing outside assignee, Phone Terror, after a :28.3 opening quarter and played follow-the-leader through middle splits of :58.1 and 1:26.3. Part Time Lady then closed through the passing lane to regain the lead and score the 1:55.2 victory by one and three-quarter lengths.
Part Time Lady, who started her career racing in Ontario, spent the past year stateside competing in California and Minnesota for trainer Steven Wiseman and owners Ronald and Tammy Wells. She earned her 11th win of the season from 27 starts and pushed her annual income to $43,060.
Part Time Lady paid $28.70 for the 13-1 upset. Even-money favourite Party Hangover Two, another newcomer from the Wiseman stable, recovered from an early break in stride after a trailing tier start and came on to finish third with broken equipment.
