Trainer Jamie Copley enjoyed a hat trick performance during Thursday’s 15-race card at Rideau Carleton Raceway, and in doing so he pushed this year’s win total to 139.
Copley got things started with Silverhill Willie in Race 3. Stephane Gendron guided the three-year-old son of Royal Mattjesty to the half-length decision in 2:00. That trainer/driver duo returned to victory lane in Race 7 with Clive Hanover, who went wire-to-wire in a time of 1:57.3. Gendron and Copley came right back to take Race 8 with CMR Maybe Loaded in a time of 1:56.2.
This marks the third consecutive season Copley has sent out at least 100 winners. He assembled personal best stats in 2010 when he sent out 196 winners and banked more than $1 million in purse earnings. The career winner of 655 races has watched his stable rack up earnings in excess of $3.2 million to date.
