Many of British Columbia’s brightest stars will be on display this Friday at Fraser Downs, as rookies and sophomores prepare to do battle in a number of rich stake events

.

Two-year-old colt and gelding pacers will be the first stakes performers to scrap on the 11-race program as they go head-to-head in Race 4 – the $40,000 BC Breeders Stake Final.

Trainer Rick White has power in numbers in that affair thanks to a three-headed entry consisting of Thieving Magpie, Hector Protector and Gotta Have Nukes.

Thieving Magpie (pp1) and Gotta Have Nukes (pp5) each have 3-0-1 records from their first four starts while Hector Protector (pp2) is 1-for-4 to start his career. White will handle Gotta Have Nukes, with Darren Howald recruited to drive Thieving Magpie and Glenn White handling the duties behind Hector Protector.

There is a quartet of two-time winners in the $40,000 BC Breeders Stake Final for two-year-old pacing fillies. Cheyenne J (pp1) totes a 2-for-4 record into the rich tilt for trainer/driver David Hudon, and those victories were earned in the preliminary legs of the stake.

Mach Maiden Heaven (pp4) is 2-for-3 to start her career for trainer/driver Scott Knight, Slow And Easy (pp5) is 2-for-4 for trainer Debra McCarthy and driver Kevin Anderson while Te Anau (pp7) is 2-for-6 for trainer/driver Don Monkman, Jr.

A set of streaking sophomores headline the $75,000 Mary Murphy Breeders Stake Final for pacing fillies. Imherefortheparty (pp3) will shoot for her fourth consecutive victory for trainer Kristopher Neyhart and driver Serge Masse, while Just Fiction (pp8) will shoot for her fourth straight score for trainer Alan Anderson and driver Jim Marino.

The $75,000 Robert Murphy Breeders Stake Final for three-year-old colt and gelding pacers appears to be Gramrun Jake’s (pp9) to lose considering he has rattled off four consecutive tallies for the team of trainer Dan Ingram and driver Tim Brown. The son of Camcracker-Roxette Hanover is 6-for-16 this season after going 2-for-7 in his rookie year.
