Goodashim came out ahead in a tight three-across finish to win the $10,000 Preferred Trot at Flamboro Downs on Thursday, Nov. 6.

Favourites Royalty Beer (Samuel Fillion) and Myretirementdream (Jay Harris) pushed past rail starter Goodashim into the first turn, with Myretirementdream grabbing the lead prior to reaching the quarter in :28.2. Myretirementdream reigned unopposed through :58.4 and 1:28.2 middle fractions until Royalty Beer popped the pocket at the third station, and the top two locked horns around the final turn. Goodashim joined the leaders as Scott Coulter sent him up the passing lane coming into the stretch, and he got his head up at the line to win the three-horse battle in 1:57. Myretirementdream got the nod for second over Royalty Beer.

Goodashim, a seven-year-old son of Cantab Hall-Gala Dream, won for the sixth time this year in 28 attempts. He is now 17-for-72 lifetime with $253,957 in earnings. Steve Coulter trains the gelding and shares ownership with Robert Coulter of Brantford, Ont. The win price was $10.60.
