Reports from Prince Edward Island indicate that Red Shores Racing Manager Brett Revington has resigned from his position within the organization.

Revington had worked in Ontario for Woodbine Entertainment Group, the Ontario Racing Commission and Western Fair Raceway prior to joining Red Shores in 2010 as the Racing Experience Manager.

“Over vacation my wife and I thought about it a lot and we decided to make the change now,” Revington told PEI newspaper The Guardian on Thursday. “My kids are five and eight now and are getting involved with a lot of extracurricular activities and I want to be involved with that. (Working at Red Shores) was a big time commitment and at this stage I want to be more involved with the kids.”

News broke earlier on Thursday, with Red Shores confirming to The Guardian that Revington had resigned.

"He was an asset to the Red Shores team and we wish him all the best in his future endeavors," Red Shores stated in an email to The Guardian.

“The position of racing manager with Red Shores is an important one and is vital to the effective running of our racing operations. We will be beginning a search to find a suitable replacement in the very near future. In doing so, we will follow our standard hiring practices, ensuring fairness and transparency to find a strong and capable leader."

Revington currently serves on the Standardbred Canada board of directors and is one of Atlantic Canada's nominees in the Active Director category.
