Somewhereinmexico stepped up to Century Downs' $10,500 Open Pace on Sunday afternoon (November 6) and earned his fourth straight victory in front-end fashion for trainer/driver Dave Kelly.
After rebuffing the parked out Blue Star Admiral through the first-half mile, Somewhereinmexico (:28, :55.4, and 1:25.3) held off even-money favourite Get Thereovernight, who rallied wide down the backstretch from last to finish second for Mike Hennessy. Seomewhereinmexico prevailed by half a length in 1:56 flat, paying $5.20 to win as the 8-5 second choice on the toteboard. Phanatical Maniac and Nathan Sobey finished over five lengths behind in third.
The Somebeachsomewhere-Blahjos gelding, who has won seven times in 27 starts during his five-year-old campaign while earning $36,420 in purses, is owned by Mike Dicks of Parkland County, Alta.
