Racing commission officials are conducting an investigating after a gelding won a race that was for fillies and returned $222.40 on a successful Win wager.

According to a report by wkbn.com, three-year-old Thoroughbred filly Ruby Queen was sent off as a 110-1 longshot in a Wednesday, November 4 dash at the Mahoning Valley Race Course in Ohio.

Although, it was revealed after the race that the filly in question wasn’t Ruby Queen, nor was it even a filly. The charge that hit the wire first was actually a gelding by the name of Leathers Slappin. Officials knew something was awry when the race winner went to the post-race test barn.

The report explains that two separate investigations into the incident are currently being conducted by both the track and the Ohio State Racing Commission.

Penn National Gaming Spokesman Bob Tenenbaum was quoted as saying that facts are still being gathered.
