Hall of Famer Mike Lachance steered Chapter Seven, the freshman son of ill-fated Windsongs Legacy-La Riviera Lindy trained by Linda Toscano, to his sixth win in seven starts this season lifting his earnings to $145,525 for suburban Philadelphia owners Richard Gutnick and Gary Cocco. Bambino Hall (Ross Wolfenden) was second with Opening Night (Corey Callahan) third.
Only noses separated the first three finishers in the $54,650 Matron Colt Preview with Delaware-bred Powerful Mist, a Powerful Toy-Misty Speed youngster handled by Jim Morand, eking out a 1:51.4 triumph at 7-1 odds. Feel Like A Fool (Brian Sears) and Lookinforadventure (Roger Plante), both $20,000 supplements to the event, were second and third in the field of 11 starters.
In the $45,575 frosh filly trot preview, Fashion Farms’ Sweet Love and Brian Sears notched a 1:58.2 score. Tight Pants (Vic Kirby) and Dont Cry Lindy (Mike Lachance) were second and third respectively.
Marcus Johansson was a late driver change for trainer Paul Reid and then drove Bulletproof Enterprises’ New Album to a 1:52.3 victory in the first of two $24,600 divisions of the Matron filly pace. Krispy Apple (Ross Wolfenden) finished second in his first pari-mutuel start with Dreamlands Roxy (Corey Callahan) the show finisher.
In the second division, Ross Wolfenden guided I Kill Time home in 1:54.2 for Seize The Day Industries, a second winner for trainer Paul Ried. Myluvmylife (Mike Lachance) the race favourite, was runner-up. Music Row (Corey Callahan) was the third finisher.
The Progress Pace and Matron three-year-old divisions present eliminations on the Sunday card at Dover Downs.
