Custom Content Tops Harrisburg Day Three

The yearling portion of the 2025 Standardbred Horse Sale concluded on Wednesday, Nov. 5 at the Pennsylvania State Farm Show Complex in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, with Custom Content topping the third session.

Custom Content, Hip 713, brought a winning bid of $183,099 ($130,000 USD) from Noel Daley of Chesterfield, N.J. The colt, consigned by Hunterton Sales Agency, is a son of Cantab Hall-Custom Model. He is a half-brother to Indiana champion Custom Cantab ($1,036,152 – 1:52), who produced stakes winner Kountry Tab.

Bacchus Blue Chip and Neck Beads were both sold for $140,845 ($100,000 USD) as the co-second-highest prices of the session.

Bacchus Blue Chip, Hip 619, was purchased by Burke Racing Stable LLC of Fredericktown, Pa. from consignor Blue Chip Farms LLC. The son of American Ideal-Sunnynseventyfive is a half-brother to Ontario Sires Stakes Grassroots leg winner Vis A Vis Bluechip ($106,335 – 1:51.2). His dam’s half-siblings include Jugette winner Eternitys Delight, a producer of more than $3 million, and stakes winners I Fought Dalaw, Racing Star, and Western Glory.

Neck Beads, Hip 870, is from the first crop of Maple Leaf Trot winner Back Of The Neck and out of the unraced mare Pay For Soup. He is a half-brother to Per Capita ($64,314 – 1:57), who won two legs of the Pennsylvania Stallion Series this year. Neck Beads, consigned by Preferred Equine Marketing, was bought by Steve Elliott of New Smyrna Beach, Fla. 

Upheaval, Hip 605, was the fourth-largest sale of day three, purchased by Chris Ryder of Allentown, N.J. for $126,761 ($90,000 USD). The son of Bulldog Hanover, consigned by Concord Stud Farm, is out of the Grand Circuit-placed mare Perfect Storm, a daughter of the millionaire mare Strike An Attitude. 

Two Blue Chip Farms-consigned colts tied for the fifth spot, both selling for $112,676 ($80,000 USD) to Exceed Stables LLC of Rebersburg, Pa. Blast Blue Chip, Hip 598, is a son of Shadow Play out of the unraced mare Shaka Blue Chip, a half-sister to stakes winners Te Amo Blue Chip and Ocean Colony. Rear Window, Hip 812, is a son of Back Of The Neck-Legal Lady and is a half-sibling to Pennsylvania Sire Stakes leg winner Spitfire Oversees ($437,631 – 1:51.1).

A total of 323 yearlings changed hands on day three, producing gross sales of $7,656,338 ($5,436,000 USD) for an average of $23,704 ($16,830 USD). The average was up from the 2024 third-session figure of $16,499 USD, while the gross decreased marginally from $5,560,000 USD.

The yearling portion of the sale brought $50,746,479 ($36,030,000 USD) in total revenue, with an average of $58,734 ($41,701 USD) across 864 sales. The average was an approximate 2.6 per cent decrease from the 2024 figure.

The mixed sale will begin on Thursday, Nov. 6 at 11 a.m. EST, the first of two sessions.

Bidding reached atmospheric heights during the opening day of the 2025 Standardbred Horse Sale on Monday, with Climatic Hanover topping the first yearling session. Selling as Hip 94, Climatic Hanover was the day's sale topper with bidding soaring to $1,021,127 ($725,000 USD) for the Walner-Crucial filly, a half sister to O'Brien and Dan Patch Award winner Maryland ($2,354,088 - 1:51.2). The winning bidder was Torgeir Hagmann of Cambridge, Ont. The filly from the Hanover Shoe Farms consignment is the third foal out of her multiple stakes-winning dam and a full brother to Grand Circuit starter Cambridge Hanover ($49,387), last year's sale topper for $1,388,889 ($1 million USD).

Dance Of Victory brought the highest winning bid of day two of the Standardbred Horse Sale on Tuesday. Dance Of Victory, Hip 190, went for $352,113 ($250,000 USD) to Ake Svanstedt of Wrightstown, New Jersey. The filly, consigned by Concord Stud Farm, is a daughter of Walner out of the Kadabra mare She Rocks Kemp, who took a mark of 1:54.3 and won an Ontario Sires Stakes Gold division. The dam is a half-sister to Yannick G Kemp, who won a Kentucky Sire Stakes final at Oak Grove this year.
