Following a brief comeback attempt from sickness this summer, world champion trotting mare Perfect Alliance has been retired from racing by majority owner Jeffrey Gural of Little E, LLC.
The four-year-old daughter of leading stallion Credit Winner retired with 13 wins from 33 career starts and earnings of $249,788. She last raced last Saturday in the Muscle Hill Mare Trot at Vernon Downs.
Perfect Alliance had an 11-race winning streak to start her 2014 season, including sweeps of the Charles Singer Memorial Series at the Meadowlands and the Bobby Weiss Series at Mohegan Sun at Pocono Downs. Her win during a leg of the Miss Versatility at Woodbine Racetrack made her a world record holder with a time of 1:51.2. In her next start, she established a new track record at Mohawk Racetrack when she won an elimination of the Armbro Flight Stakes in a time of 1:51.4.
“Perfect Alliance gave me and my partners some real thrills as owners, none bigger than her world record in Canada,” said Gural. “I only wish we could’ve seen her come back to her early season form, but now we’re looking forward to her second career as a mother.”
Gural purchased Perfect Alliance for $75,000 at the 2011 Lexington Selected Yearling Sale. Bred by Deo Volente Farms, she is a daughter of the Andover Hall mare Yalta Hanover. Bob Bencal trained Perfect Alliance until the end of her three-year-old season when Julie Miller took over training duties for the mare’s four-year-old campaign.
Perfect Alliance will retire to Gural’s Allerage Farms location in Stanfordville, NY. Breeding plans are still to be determined.
