Emmetts Buddy took home the lion's share of the $36,000 purse on Saturday (Nov. 4) evening after winning the Preferred Pace at Woodbine Mohawk Park.
Tyler Borth and the Mike Kwietniowski trainee got away third off the car, following Funatthebeach N (Trevor Henry) and a parked out Cold Creek Queso (Jody Jamieson). As Cold Creek Queso settled along the pylons, Borth tugged his right line and sent Emmetts Buddy first over en route to the half. Emmetts Buddy was the first to hit the timer in :54.4 at that station before easing into the lead and posting the three-quarters in 1:22.4. Down the lane, four opened up across the track, but Emmetts Buddy won at the wire by a half length in 1:50.2. Livinthebeachlife (Jonathan Drury) took second while Matai Louis N (Tyler Jones) grabbed the show spot.
Bred and owned by Arthur Rey, the four-year-old gelding earned his tenth win of the season and 17 career tally. He boasts $215,519 in career earnings. Emmetts Buddy paid $4.30 to win.
