Glenferrie Bronte N prevailed in just her second start in the Fillies and Mares Open on Friday night (November 4) at Saratoga Casino Hotel.
The Jose Godinez-trained mare was a non-factor in her local debut a few weeks ago, but was aggressive in Friday’s feature as reinsman Bruce Aldrich Jr. moved her out to the early lead. Last week’s Open winner So Nice (Mark Beckwith) was relegated to a first over journey in the $16,000 feature and squared off for the better part of a half-mile with the front-running invader. It was Glenferrie Bronte N who drew clear turning for home before prevailing in 1:53.1. So Nice continued her impressive “on the board” streak as she was the runner-up while Bazooka Terror (Billy Dobson) came on to finish third.
Glenferrie Bronte N returned $8.70 to win and led an exacta and triple that paid $19 and $81, respectively.
The win time of 1:53.1 served as a new lifetime mark for the five-year-old New Zealand-bred distaffer, who moved her career earnings to over the $100,000 mark with the win.
The Changeover mare is owned by Blindswitch Racing Stable and Dolne Farm Services LLC.
