Proven Lover put in a monster of a mile during Sunday's racing action at Charlottetown Driving Park, winning the $2,400 Preferred Pace by open lengths in 1:53.2 for trainer-driver Terry Gallant.

Gallant, who was driving for owner Casey Gavin of Tignish, P.E.I., sent the former Gold Cup & Saucer finalist to the top from post eight and gunned through fractions of :27.1, :56 and 1:25.1 before unleashing a final quarter of :28.1 seconds to win by 11 lengths. Last week's winner and this week's betting favourite, Balanchine (Brodie MacPhee), was second with B J Cruiser (Gary Chappell) third.

Proven Lover paid $14 to win as the 6-1 second choice.

The eight-year-old son of Real Desire, who hasn't missed the board yet in six seasonal starts, notched his 15th career win.

The second leg of David Rose Memorial Series, presented by Meridian Farms, continued on Sunday with four $1,500 divisions for $3,500 claimers. The winners included Bo Butler and Corey MacPherson in 1:58.2 for trainer Jonah Moase; Pan Cushion and Mike McGuigan in 1:57.4 for Trevor Hicken; Ultimate Faith and Brodie MacPhee in 1:58.2 for Philip Desroches; and Bemused and trainer-driver Mark McKinnon in 2:00.3.

The $1,500 (added) consolation and $6,000 (added) final will take place on November 11 at CDP.
